Columbus, MS, October 6, 2011 - The Columbus Arts Council (CAC) and the Starkville Area Arts Council (SAAC) are sponsoring an exchange exhibit to highlight the visual arts of the two cities.

On Thursday, October 6, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., the Columbus Arts Council will host a free gallery opening with light refreshments featuring the work of the Starkville Area Arts Council. On Friday, October 7, 5:30 to 7:00 p.m., SAAC will host a gallery opening in the lobby of the Greater Starkville Development Partnership featuring the artwork of the Columbus Arts Council artists.

The major goal of Art in Public Places is to recognize and provide a venue for local artists of Starkville to display their work. Besides a gallery at the SAAC, art works are hung in the library, various banks, and business in the city. Most of the works are for sale which provides and opportunity for the artists to capitalize on their talent. The goal of the exchange exhibit is to allow the artists to share their artwork with the great er Golden Triangle community.

The Starkville Area Arts Council exhibit will run through the end of October. The Rosenzweig Arts Center is located at 501 Main Stree in downtown Columbus. The Greater Starkville Development Partnership is located at 200 East Main Street, in downtown Starkville.
