This class is designed for those who have used their sewing machine lightly to make masks or other utilitarian projects and want to expand their sewing skills. The classes will include practice material and a finished product for each night, focusing on quality techniques for work you will be proud to use or gift.
Artists are especially encouraged to take the class, as the finished products are perfect blanks for embellishment.
Supplies needed:
- Sewing machine, sewing ready, with white thread and bobbin
- Optional: Iron/ironing board – there will be a couple available, but you will benefit by having your own
- Fabric sewing scissors
- Pins
- Hand sewing needle
- Seam ripper
- Seam gauge
Class 1:
Project: Linen kitchen towel
Skills: Accurate cutting, measuring, topstitching, mitered corners
Supplies provided: Fabric
Class 2:
Project: Pillow
Skills: Accurate seams, tidy corners, machine hem, yarn tassels (optional)
Supplies provided: Fabric, pillow form
Optional supplies: 1 skein of worsted weight yarn for tassels
Class 3:
Project: Zipper bag
Skills: Zipper, lining, interfacing.
Supplies provided: Fabric, zipper, interfacing
Optional supplies: Two ¼ yard pieces of fabric of your choice for outside and lining, charm for zipper pull.
