Dear Prospective Teachers, Paid Assistants and Volunteer Assistants,
Thank you for your interest in working with the Columbus Arts Council (CAC)! There are many different programs you can teach and assist here, such as 1st Saturday Arts for All, A Taste of Art, Spring Theater Camp, Summer Arts Camp, and even a class proposed by you.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONS
1st Saturday Arts for All
The first Saturday of selected months the CAC offers Arts for All, an all-inclusive class that offers a new art topic each month for children ages 5-15. Regular hours are from 10 a.m.-Noon.
Arts for All teachers are paid $15.00/hour for 3 hours: 2 hours for teaching and 30 minutes before and after for set-up and clean-up. Volunteer assistant positions are available.
A Taste of Art
The second Tuesday of selected months the CAC offers A Taste of Art, an all-inclusive class that offers a new art topic each month for ages 16 years and older. Regular hours are from 6:30-8:30 p.m.
Taste of Art teachers are paid in the same way as teachers who have proposed a class. The CAC, with the input of the teacher, will determine dates, times, the cost of supplies and tuition per student.
Spring Theater Camp
During spring break the CAC offers a 1 week (M-F) Spring Theater Camp from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Students grades 3-8 will learn many aspects of theatre such as basic acting skills, creating set designs, applying stage makeup, and performing in an actual play at the end of the week.
Spring Theater Camp teachers are paid $10.00/hour. Since we may have multiple teachers teaching different classes, the number of hours teachers get paid will depend upon the schedule. Each teacher will also be paid for thirty minutes before and after their designated teaching times for set-up and clean-up. Spring Theater camp assistants are paid $25.00/day. Volunteer assistant positions are also available.
Spring Theater Camp requires a big commitment. Teachers and assistants may be asked to fill out additional forms and attend meetings and training sessions prior to camp.
Summer Arts Camp
During summer break the CAC offers a 2-week (M-F) Summer Arts Camp from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Children ages 5-16 will learn many different art forms such as painting, drawing, dancing, singing, etc.
