VISIONS OF NATURE
Photography by Rick Barnard
Rick Barnard photographs the natural world to capture fresh images of waterfalls, rivers, mountains and deserts. He looks for compelling compositions that offer a unique perspective on the iconic vistas of the mid-South and American West. The Smoky Mountains, Shenandoah and the dramatic Utah deserts are among his favorite locales. His work includes candid portraits and still life photographs.
His photographic prints will be on exhibit November through December 2018 at the Columbus Arts Council, Columbus, MS. He exhibited January through March 2018 at The Salvation Army Ray & Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Memphis, TN. Rick also has had solo exhibits of his prints at The Club, Columbus Air Base, Columbus, MS; the Memphis Botanic Garden, Memphis, TN; The Beverly and Sam Ross Gallery, Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN; and the Germantown Performing Arts Centre, Germantown, TN. He has participated in dozens of group art exhibits in Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia and Maryland.
Rick is passionate about photography “because it enables me to portray the world as I see it. Photography is an interpretative art. My photos reflect my vision of a flower, an individual or a mountain stream. With my camera, I can slow the tides, darken the skies or capture a special moment in the eyes of a child. I hope my photographs inspire others to pause for reflection and see the world around us in new ways.”
